Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your professional birding guide will welcome you. Transfer to your lodge in Arusha, relax after your journey, and receive a detailed safari briefing before your adventure begins.
Spend the day exploring Arusha National Park’s Momella Lakes, montane forests, and open grasslands. Search for Hartlaub’s Turaco, Narina Trogon, African Fish Eagle, flamingos, kingfishers, hornbills, and colorful weavers while enjoying sightings of giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and colobus monkeys.
Depart Arusha and journey through the Ngorongoro Highlands into Serengeti National Park. Enjoy birdwatching and wildlife viewing throughout the drive before arriving at your tented camp for an evening surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
Spend the day exploring the endless plains of Serengeti. Photograph Secretary Birds, vultures, rollers, bee-eaters, hornbills, and numerous birds of prey while searching for lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, and large herds of plains game.
Drive through Serengeti’s Western Corridor toward the shores of Lake Victoria. The changing landscapes provide excellent opportunities to observe wetland birds, woodland species, and spectacular wildlife before arriving at your lakeside lodge.

Begin the day searching for the endemic South Pare White-eye before continuing into the beautiful West Usambara Mountains. Enjoy afternoon birdwatching in the cool mountain forests.
Explore the lush forests of the West Usambara Mountains while searching for Usambara Akalat, forest robins, greenbuls, turacos, sunbirds, and other endemic bird species.
Travel to the famous East Usambara Mountains with birdwatching stops along the route. Arrive at Amani Nature Reserve and enjoy an afternoon walk through one of Africa’s oldest rainforests.
Spend the day exploring Amani Nature Reserve in search of the Amani Sunbird, Green-headed Oriole, African Broadbill, East Coast Akalat, hornbills, and many other forest specialists.
Enjoy a final morning birdwatching session before transferring for your flight to Pemba Island. After arrival, explore nearby habitats and enjoy your first birdwatching excursion on the island.
Spend the day searching for Pemba’s endemic birds, including the Pemba Green Pigeon, Pemba White-eye, and the elusive Pemba Scops Owl. Along the coastline, look for kingfishers, herons, terns, and other coastal birds while enjoying the island’s beautiful scenery.
After breakfast, transfer to Pemba Airport for your domestic flight to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar, where you will connect with your international departure flight. Important information
Tanzania Visa:
In regard to visas in Tanzania- majority of clients can get a visa on arrival at the airport and the cost is $100 USD for Americans and $50 USD Europe countries, Asia and Canadians. The money must be paid in USD cash (no credit cards are accepted) and I always suggest bringing some passport photos in case they ask for them. The process is very simple and doesn’t take long.

Yellow Fever
Tanzania requires proof of yellow fever vaccination upon arrival if you are traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever and it is a requirement in some neighbouring countries including Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda etc. However, Tanzania no longer officially requires you to carry the certificate unless you are arriving from an infected area.
Insurance
As you may have gathered, going on a safari requires more preparation than most other types of travels. In order to book a package, some tour operators may require you to purchase travel insurance. We believe that it’s ‘better to be safe than sorry’ and highly recommend for you to purchase a policy – for your own protection, even if your tour operator doesn’t require you to do so.
