In the richness and diversity of her cultures and wildlife, no country surpasses Tanzania. The Elephant’s Trumpet safari adventure lets you witness the migration of herds driven by primal instincts and drop down into the Eighth Wonder of the World, the Ngorongoro Crater. You may see the famous tree-climbing lions in Lake Manyara and marvel at the elephants in Tarangire, The Land of the Giants. Together with your personal tour guide and our highly experienced staff, we will create for you an unforgettable adventure.
Your adventure begins upon deplaning at Kilimanjaro Airport. Your personal safari guide, who will escort you to Tarangire National Park, will welcome you. As you proceed to your lodge, en-route game viewing will allow you to experience first hand why Tarangire is known as the Land of the Giants. Wide panoramas of open acacia woodland and grassland savannah are home to the most majestic Baobab trees and elephants in all of Africa. Check in and lunch will be followed by an afternoon game drive where you will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife. Following the drive, we will proceed back to our lodge to enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Tarangire Tree Tops Lodge. Enjoy an enchanted night’s sleep in the canopy of Tarangire.
After breakfast, you will embark on an all day game drive in Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch in a panoramic spot where zebra and impala may be grazing a mere 150 meters from your table. Your game drive will continue after lunch for another chance to enjoy The Land of the Giants. Following the day’s game viewing, your guide will accompany you on an in-country flight to Lobo Airstrip in the Serengeti in time to enjoy your evening meal at the Serengeti Migration Camp. You will overnight at Serengeti Migration Camp on the Grumeti River where you will be serenaded to sleep by the deep bass tones of the resident hippos. There is even a complimentary Kids Club for the younger members of your party.
An early morning start takes us into the remote Lobo region in the Northern Serengeti for an all day game drive. Picnic lunches are provided. The park derives its name from the Maasai word ‘siringet’ meaning ‘endless plains’. It is home to the largest animal migration on the planet. The Lobo area is one of the natural pathways for the annual migration of the wildebeests. Consequently, Lobo is also home to one of the highest concentrations of lions in Africa. You will return to the Serengeti Migration Camp for dinner and relaxation.
After breakfast, we will depart by air to Seronera Airstrip located in the central region of the park. A half day game drive in the Central Serengeti offers undeniably good game viewing. Wide long-grass plains framed by rocky hills define this portion of the famous park. River courses are fringed with yellow barked acacia trees, a favorite tree of leopards. This will be a full day game drive with picnic lunch provided. Then on to the Serengeti Pioneer Camp where you can gaze upon the sweeping views of the Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the vast plains of the Serengeti.
The Central Serengeti is one of the best places to go on safari in Africa. Towards the end of the dry season, when water and grass become scarce in the open plains, the wildebeest move west. Zebra, other antelopes and the attending predators and vultures follow in their footsteps. Such a spectacle is best observed from a hot air balloon (optional). After breakfast, we will embark on another full day game drive with a picnic lunch provided. The dry and tree-less “endless plains” of Central Serengeti continue west and north into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is in these plains that the splendor of Serengeti manifests itself during the November to May rainy season. We will return for an evening of relaxation at Serengeti Pioneer Camp.
Today we embark on another morning game drive in Central Serengeti before flying to Ngaresero Airstrip to visit Lake Natron in the famous Rift Valley. On a walking tour you will see the footprints our prehistoric ancestors. Lake Natron is also host to one of the largest flamingo breeding grounds. Enjoy a walk around the lake and come within 150 meters of these graceful birds. In the evening, you may take a refreshing dip in natural springs and waterfalls as you relax and enjoy the magnificent lake views. A picnic lunch will be provided. You could alternately choose to visit a Maasai family for an enlightening cultural interaction. We will overnight at Lake Natron Camp, an ideal spot for the photographer in you!
Day 7 we will return to Lake Natron to again partake of the panoramic pink hues of the flamingos. The lake is host to a high concentration of algae and mineral salts that gives the water itself its unique red tint. After a picnic lunch you have the option to swim in another waterfall or hike the active volcano, Mount Oldoinyo Lengai. From there you will look down upon the beauty of Lake Natron and see a variety of birds, Vervet monkeys, and African vegetation unique to volcanic soil. After a sumptuous dinner you well be free to revel in the amenities of Lake Natron Camp.
An early morning flight to Manyara Airstrip and a short drive, we will arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater, the Eighth Wonder of the world, the next highlight of our Tanzanian safari adventure. Known as the 8th Wonder of the World, the extinct Ngorongoro volcano is the largest caldera with an unbroken rim in the world. We will overnight at the luxurious Manor at Ngorongoro, located within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate.
An early morning game drive takes us back down into the Ngorongoro Crater. Very few animals are able to scale the 2000 foot walls of the crater. You can expect to see a plethora of lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. Your personal guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals. After exploring the unsurpassed beauty of the crater, you will return to The Manor at Ngorongoro for rest and relaxation.
After breakfast and check out, your personal guide will see you safely on your flight at Kilimanjaro International Airport. We look forward to serving you again. As they say in Swahili – “Safari njema!” Have a wonderful journey!
