“The Migration Special” gives clients a unique opportunity to view the Great Migration of wildebeest and plains game from the Tanzanian side ! In our opinion it is the perfect Safari for any Migration enthusiast who may have witnessed the world famous Mara Crossings but not yet seen it in the Serengeti ! The Grumeti River offers the perfect setting. We have also included other highlights in this Safari ! Arusha National Park with its enchanting tropical forest, the scenic Momella Lakes & the famous strangular Fig Tree as well as plenty of wildlife ! Further, the 08th Wonder of the Natural World, Ngorongoro Crater !
The Best Period for this Safari
Beginning of May to end of June ! Afterwards, we would recommend a change in location of accommodation to follow the Wildebeest to the North. During May and June the Gnus follow the Rains in search of pasture in the Western corridor of Serengeti.
A warm Tanzanian welcome on your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your personal safari guide and transferred to your hotel for overnight. Depending on your arrival time, we can book dinner for you. Dinner and overnight at ARUMERU RIVER LODGE (HB)
After a scrumptious breakfast, you will depart for Arusha National Park, where buffalos and giraffes are frequently encountered, the ascent of Meru leads into forests aflame with red-hot pokers and dripping with Spanish moss. You have the option of a full day game drive with picnic lunch or alternatively do a morning and an afternoon game drive. Overnight at ARUMERU RIVER LODGE (FB)
After breakfast, your Safari goes on to the scenic Lake Manyara National Park. You will have an option of going for a deliciously prepared African meal in the village of Mto Wa Mbu, then a cultural walk into the colorful, commercial village with different tribes. (approx. 2 – 3 hrs) Giving you an opportunity to be an African, by meeting the indigenous people living here, and also participating in their activities.
Optional: if you prefer to forfeit the walk due to physical constraints you can choose a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park instead. Late afternoon transfer to Karatu, located at the foot of Ngorongoro Conseravation Area. Dinner and overnight at NGORONGORO FARM HOUSE (HB)
Early morning departure, with picnic lunch, into the world renowned Ngorongoro Crater. Also known as the jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest un flooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. You can enjoy half a day’s game viewing on the magnificent Crater Floor. After a good night sleep, this morning we depart early after breakfast for the famous Ol Duvai Gorge, the so-called “Cradle of Mankind”, later proceed to Serengeti National park. Arrive in time for lunch at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge. Afternoon game drive at your convenience. As enduring as the game-viewing is the liberating sense of space that characterizes the Serengeti Plains, stretching across sunburnt savannah to a shimmering golden horizon at the end of the earth. Later after the afternoon game drive proceed to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at SERENGETI SERENA SAFARI LODGE (FB)
Full day in Serengeti with unlimited game drives. You will have an option of packed breakfast or/and lunch as per your preference. Kindly let your guide know what you wish to opt for so that any packed meals can be ordered the day before. Alternatively, you may prefer a morning and afternoon game drive. However, pls. keep in mind that we offer you unlimited game drives with your choice of duration & number of drives. The only way to enjoy maximum in the Serengeti….!!!
Meals and overnight at SERENGETI SERENA SAFARI LODGE (FB)
Today you can opt for an early morning game drive, this is best time to spot good game. Later after breakfast we depart for the Western part of Serengeti called the Grumeti Area. This area is best visited during the great migration when you get a chance to see the herds crossing over the Grumeti river where all the action takes place. Enjoy unlimited game drives with packed breakfast and/or packed lunch as you prefer. Later proceed to the lodge over-looking the Grumeti River. All meals overnight at KIRAWIRA TENTED CAMP (FB)
You will enjoy a last early morning game drive in the Park as you prepare to say goodbye. You depart taking with you unforgettable memories of Tanzania with you. You may continue with a direct flight for a beach extension to Zanzibar or alternatively enjoy an extension to the Southern Parks of Tanzania. You may opt to drive back to Arusha (approx. 6 hrs driving time) in which case you will enjoy lunch en-route. Alternatively (at an extra cost) you can fly to Arusha from where we will transfer you to the airport for your outbound flight.
