Day 1: Welcome to Entebbe, Uganda

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our tour representative, who will assist with your transfer to your hotel . Take time to relax, recover from your journey, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Scenic Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will begin your 8–9 hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. The drive takes you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, with rolling hills, tea plantations, and bustling villages along the way. You may stop for lunch en route and enjoy some breathtaking scenery before continuing your journey.  On arrival at Bwindi, you will check in at your lodge, where you can relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the forest as you prepare for the thrilling gorilla trekking experience tomorrow.

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience

Start your day with breakfast before heading to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park headquarters. There, you will attend a briefing by park rangers covering the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking.

You will be assigned to a trekking group and paired with a guide who will lead you through the dense forest in search of a gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas, but the reward is unforgettable—spending one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural environment.

After the trek, return to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge, taking time to reflect on this extraordinary wildlife encounter.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi, you will begin your scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, home to one of the highest concentrations of primates in Africa, including chimpanzees. Along the way, enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of rolling hills, terraced farmland, and picturesque villages that showcase rural Uganda at its best.

A lunch stop will be made en route, giving you time to relax and enjoy the journey. You are expected to arrive in Kibale in the late afternoon, where you will check in at your lodge. Spend the evening unwinding and enjoying dinner, as you prepare for the exciting primate adventures that await you tomorrow.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will head into Kibale National Park for a briefing on the rules and guidelines for spending time with chimpanzees. Once briefed, you will begin your trek into the lush forest, guided by experienced park rangers. Along the way, you may encounter 11 other primate species, providing plenty of opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

You will spend approximately one hour observing the chimpanzees in their natural habitat, gaining an unforgettable close-up experience. After the trek, return to the starting point for the certificate ceremony commemorating your encounter. You will then head back to the lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 6: Departure – Transfer to Kampala / Entebbe

After breakfast at the lodge, you will begin your scenic drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, depending on your flight schedule. The journey takes approximately 5–7 hours, passing through picturesque Ugandan countryside with rolling hills, tea plantations, and charming local villages—perfect for photos and last glimpses of the country’s landscapes.

This marks the end of your 6-day gorilla and chimpanzee safari adventure in Uganda, filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters and memories.

Important Notes

  • Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking permits must be secured in advance due to limited availability.
  • Participants must be 15 years or older to trek gorillas.
  • Gorilla and chimpanzee  permit fees are non-refundable.
  • A reasonable level of fitness is required for trekking, Porters are available to assist with your belongings.

What to Pack for Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking

  • A raincoat and a sweater for unpredictable weather
  • A hat and sunglasses for sun protection
  • Hand gloves to protect your hands from sharp branches
  • Sturdy hiking boots with good grip
  • Long-sleeved tops and trousers in neutral colors (cream, brown, green, etc.)
  • Insect repellent
  • Long stockings to tuck into your pants
  • A trekking stick (provided at the park, but feel free to bring your own)
  • A camera with a strong battery and ample memory storage
